Former Newtown Police Sergeant Gets Prison Time For Manufacturing Steroids NEWTOWN, Conn. -- A former Newtown police sergeant has been sentenced to 16 months in prison for his part in a ring that was responsible for manufacturing and distributing steroids. Steven Santucci, 40, of Waterbury, was sentenced Thursday by U.S. District Judge Robert N. Chatigny in Hartford to 16 months in prison, followed by two years of supervised release, for manufacturing and distributing steroids, said Deirdre M. Daly, U.S. Attorney for Connecticut. Several Spring Valley Businesses Burglarized SPRING VALLEY, N.Y. -- Spring Valley police are asking for the public's help in identifying a man wanted for breaking into several local businesses in one building last week. The man, who was caught on video surveillance, broke into an office building on Union Road in Spring Valley and burglarized five small businesses located inside the building, said Spring Valley Detective Robert Bookstein. Monsey Teen Struck, Killed By Car On Route 59 RAMAPO, N.Y. -- An 18-year-old Monsey woman was struck and killed Wednesday by a motor vehicle on Route 59. Shiendy Mashinsky was hit near Augusta Avenue by Sholom Lenchitz, also of Monsey, while crossing the the street with her sister, said Ramapo Detective Mark Emma. Police Ask Public's Help In Search For Poughkeepsie Fugitive POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- New York State Police are asking for the public's help in locating Zachary Higgins of Poughkeepsie, who is wanted in connection with a grant larceny that occurred in January.Higgins, 25, is also wanted for failing to appear in Dutchess County Court in connection with the larceny charges. Beacon Man Injured In Shooting BEACON, N.Y. -- A Beacon man has been identified as the person shot in Newburgh on Tuesday afternoon, according to TWC News. Joel Ladson, 28, was shot at the corner of Grand and Catherine streets, but managed to run to the intersection of South and Montgomery streets, where Newburgh police found him, said TWC News. Ladson, who was shot around 2:15 p.m., was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, TWC added. Police are asking anyone with information to call 845-561-3131. Second Poughkeepsie Lightning-Strike Victim Dies POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- A second man who was struck by lighting while sitting under a tree in Mansion Square Park in Poughkeepsie has died at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. The 46-year-old man died at 6:15 a.m. Wednesday, said John Nelson, director of public and community affairs for the hospital. "Our sympathies go out to his family," Nelson said.
