A man is in police custody after police say he choked, tackled, bitten, and robbed a woman described as his "dating partner" during a domestic violence incident in Edgewater last fall.
The incident was reported to the Edgewater Police Department on Dec. 28, 2025, at approximately 4 p.m., by the victim, according to a release from Chief Donald A. Martin.

A 20-year-old Connecticut man was killed in a rollover crash earlier this week on Route 8 while driving a vehicle stolen in New Jersey, police said.
Oliver Cruz-Ortiz, 20, of Bridgeport, lost control of the Infiniti Q50 just after 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5, near Exit 12A in Shelton, Connecticut State Police said. The cause of the crash is unclear, but troopers said the vehicle careened off the roadway, struck a light pole and a metal sign before it began to tumble.
Cruz-Ortiz was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
