History has been made in Virginia. Democrat Abigail Spanberger is projected to be the first female governor in the history of the Commonwealth, topping Republican Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears, according to multiple reports. As of 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 4, with 74 of 133 localities reporting in to the Virginia Board of Elections, Spanberger was leading Earle-Sears 57 percent to 42 percent, with nearly 150,000 more votes. A Virginia man is in custody after police say he repeatedly approached women working at Potomac Mills Mall and made crude gestures. The Prince William County Police Department announced Tuesday, Sept. 23, that officers are searching for Dumfries resident Edwood Christoper Spencer, 48, in connection with multiple incidents earlier this month. Improperly discarded smoking materials were to blame for a massive, nearly $1 million, two-alarm fire in Virginia that left a family displaced. Fairfax County Fire and Rescue crews were called at around 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 22, to the 6200 block of Levi Court in Springfield, where there was a reported townhouse fire, officials said.
