New Track At Masuk High Dedicated To Longtime Coach, Teacher MONROE, Conn. -- The track at Masuk High School was dedicated to longtime coach and art teacher Ed Butler on Tuesday. The dedication came with a plaque set in stone that outlines Butler's accomplishments, including having been named coach of the year in three different sports and 15 league championships in football, boys and girls indoor track and girls outdoor track.

Two Athletes At Danbury's Immaculate High Sign Letters Of Intent DANBURY, Conn. -- Two Immaculate High School athletes signed letters of intent to continue their careers at the collegiate level next year. Caroline Beal of Newtown will swim at Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. next year. “As an honor roll student completing many hours of community service, Caroline was able to put her stamp on our girls swim team,” IHS Athletic Director Jeff Castaldi said. “She has been named All SWC as well as a member of the Class M and Class L All State teams. Metro-North Cancels Bus Substitution For This Weekend DANBURY, Conn. — Previously scheduled bus service on the Danbury Branch has been canceled for this weekend, Metro-North said. Trains will run on a normal schedule on May 12 to May 14. But weekend users of the Danbury Branch on the New Haven Line will have to take substitute buses on a later weekend as crews work to improve infrastructure and grade crossings, Metro-North said. Buses will be used for select trains between Danbury and South Norwalk on Friday, May 19, through Sunday, May 21.

Riding To Remember: Bridgeport Officer Bikes In Memory Of Fallen Police BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Bridgeport Police Officer Sandy Gonzalez hopped on her bike on Tuesday, and began a 300-mile bike ride to honor fallen police officers throughout the country. The Police Unity Tour is a 300-mile, multi-day bike ride. Gonzalez will be riding in memory of Bridgeport Officer Gerald T. DiJoseph, who was shot and killed while making a traffic stop in 1980. Wilton Plans Cut Backs To Annual Fireworks show WILTON, Conn. -- The annual Fourth of July fireworks at Wilton High School will be dialed back a bit this year due to budget constraints, according to the Wilton Bulletin. Costs will be cut by roughly $12,000 and will likely mean losing the live bands and disc jockey.
