Whippany Firefighter Injured In Training Exercise Sees Outpouring Of Support The community is coming together to support Whippany firefighter Jim Danus after he was injured while taking part in a training drill in Hanover in May. Danus was injured during a routine drill while taking part in a training exercise on Tuesday, May 6, the Whippany Fire Department said. He remains hospitalized Morristown Medical Center and faces a lengthy rehabilitation.  A fundraiser has been set up to Danus' family, which includes his wife, Tracey and his children, Jacob, Jessica and Josh. Man Fatally Shot Near Atlantic City High School: Prosecutor A 43-year-old Atlantic City man was fatally shot on Sunday, July 6, authorities said. At 11:20 p.m., Atlantic City police responded to to 1400 N. Albany Avenue, on the overpass of Route 40 leading to Atlantic City High School and found Vaughn Lyons with multiple gunshot wounds, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said. Lyons was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. The shooting remains under investigation, authorities said.

DWI Reckless Driver Arrested On Route 10: Denville PD A 25-year-old Dover resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated in Denville, authorities announced Monday, July 7. On Monday, June 30, officers pulled over a vehicle on Route 10 West after it observing it repeatedly failing to maintain its lane of travel, Denville police said. The driver, David Gutierrez, was placed under arrest on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and transported to police headquarters for processing. Gutierrez was also issued summonses for reckless driving and careless driving, police said.
