A person had crossed over a safety railing at Hoboken Terminal, aiming to jump into the Hudson River, police said. Continued Flooding Closes Paterson Schools For Rest Of Week Students at Paterson Public Schools will not be returning to school until next year. The school district announced schools will be closed Thursday, Dec. 21 and Friday, Dec. 22 as the city continues to deal with the devastation of weekend flooding.  Schools have been closed since Tuesday, Dec. 19, following an early dismissal on Monday, Dec. 18, as numerous streets in the city were closed due to several inches of accumulated water. School will reopen on Tuesday, Jan. 2. The district said the school calendar will be updated to ensure students get 180 days of instruction.

Newark Woman Fatally Struck By Vehicle Driven By 70-Year-Old: Summit PD A 66-year-old Newark woman was fatally struck by a vehicle in Summit on the morning of Wednesday, Dec. 20, police said. At 6:51 a.m. police responded to River Road, between Morris Avenue and Plain Street, and found the woman struck by a 2018 Toyota Tundra, driven by a 70-year-old Hopatcong man.  The woman was pronounced dead after being transferred to Overlook Medical Center.  The incident is under investigation by the Summit Police Department Traffic Safety Bureau.
