Jimmy Carter Reveals Cancer Diagnosis; Share Your Thoughts, Putnam PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- Former President Jimmy Carter issued a brief statement revealing he had cancer in several parts of his body on Wednesday.  Carter had surgery to remove a mass on his liver on Aug. 3.The procedure revealed cancer had spread to other parts of his body.
