Passaic's Abe Vigoda Dies, Famed For 'Godfather,' 'Barney Miller' Roles PASSAIC, N.J. -- Actor and Passaic resident Abe Vigoda died on on Tuesday at his daughter's home in Woodland Park, according to multiple reports. He was 94. Vigoda broke from obscurity for his role of Sal Tessio in "The Godfather" and "The Godfather Part II." He became a household name playing Detective Phil Fish in the 1970s TV series "Barney Miller."
