White Plains Will See Record Warmth Christmas Eve, Day Dreaming of a white Christmas may be the closest area residents will come to actually seeing it with near-record highs in the forecast, according to the National Weather Service. There could be lingering showers Thursday, but temperatures should reach well into the 70s. The record high for this date in Central Park is 63 degrees, which should be easily broken. In fact, New York City could see a high temperature Christmas Eve of 74. Christmas Day will remain unseasonably warm with partly sunny skies and highs in the 60s.  Temperatures will hover in the mid-to-high 50s through the weekend.

Mount Vernon DPW Revises Schedules For The Holidays MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- In anticipation of the Holidays, The Mount Vernon Department of Public Works has made changes to parking rules as well as garbage and recycling collection. Regular Wednesday pickup of recyclable bottles, cans and plastics, on the Southside will be on Thursday, Dec. 24. Regular Friday pickup of garbage and rubbish on the Northside will also be on Thursday.  There are no pickups on Friday, Dec. 25.  Alternate side of the street parking will be suspended on Christmas Day.  Contact the Department of Public Works at 914-665-2460 for more information.
