Shelton Planning & Zoning To Vote On Massive Proposed Development
SHELTON, Conn. — The Planning and Zoning Board will meet on Wednesday, April 27, to vote on a zone change for a project in the area of Bridgeport Avenue, Mill Street (a designated scenic road), and Buddington Road. The project involves a nine-story, 450-unit residential tower, retail space, assisted living facilities, and office complexes.
The project would eliminate a historic trail and 121 acres of forest.

RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Suffern Mayor Ed Markunas is calling for the removal of Ramapo Supervisor Christopher St. Lawrence from office under Section 36 of the state's Public Officers Law.The law, which states that any public officer can be removed for "any misconduct, maladministration, malfeasance or malversation in office," has not been used in the case of St. Lawrence, who was arrested earlier this month and charged with 22 counts of federal securities fraud, among other charges.

Komen Study Finds Highest Numbers Of New Breast Cancer Cases In Greenwich
GREENWICH, Conn. -- A comprehensive study called "The Community Profile: An Assessment of Breast Cancer in Connecticut" found the highest numbers of new cases of breast cancer in the state are found in Stamford, Bridgeport, New Haven, Waterbury, Greenwich, West Hartford, Hartford, Norwalk, Fairfield, and Bristol.
The study was done by Susan G. Komen of Southern New England. At a recent event at the Capitol in Hartford, Dr. Mark Melendez, a Komen board member, described the study's main findings.

Shelton Mayor, Police Chief Named 'Juneteenth' Parade Marshals
SHELTON, Conn. -- The upcoming 2016 Juneteenth parade will have two grand marshals from Shelton, with Mayor Mark Lauretti and Police Chief Shawn Sequeira taking the helm for the annual event on Saturday June, 11 in Bridgeport, according to the Shelton Herald.
Juneteenth, celebrated each year on June 19, is the celebration of the Emancipation Proclamation. Both Lauretti and Sequeira told the Shelton Herald that their selections to represent the city was a privilege, said the Shelton Herald.
