Five Crew Athletes Treated At Poughkeepsie Hospital For Hypothermia POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Five high school students were treated at MidHudson Regional Hospital of Westchester Medical Center in Poughkeepsie for evaluation of hypothermia after three crew boats capsized in the Hudson River during practice Wednesday night, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal.In all, first responders treated 57 high school students after the crew boats capsized due to rough waters, reported the Journal. The students were given dry clothes and Mylar blankets to increase their body temperature. Cyclist Thrown From Bike In Redding After Being Clipped By Car REDDING, Conn. -- A 46-year-old cyclist from Wilton suffered minor injuries when she was thrown from her bike after being clipped by a car on Route 107 on March 17, according to the Redding Pilot. According to police, the accident occurred after a southbound car driven by a 52-year old Redding resident clipped the bike, sending the rider flying, said the Redding Pilot. Lauretti's Proposed Budget Won't Raise Shelton Property Taxes SHELTON, Conn. -- There would be no increase in property taxes under a 2016-17 budget proposed by Shelton Mayor Mark Lauretti, according to the Shelton Herald. His proposed budget totals $122,355,476, which is a 1.4 percent increase over last year's budget, the Herald said. Drunken Driver From Danbury Crashes Stolen Car In Brookfield BROOKFIELD, Conn. -- A Danbury man driving drunk in a stolen car was arrested after he crashed on Federal Road in Brookfield on March 21, according to the News-Times. Eduardo Venturo, 30, was driving north near Route 133 when he hit two cars while driving a Ford Explorer he had stolen less than an hour earlier, said the News-Times. He was charged with third-degree larceny, driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol, driving without a license, and failure to drive at a reasonable distance and held on $10,000 bond, added the News-Times. Mill Rate To Rise 2% In New Canaan As Town Council Approves Budgets NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- The New Canaan Town Council has unanimously approved the town and school budges for 2016-17, according to the New Canaan Advertiser.   On Wednesday, the Town Council members approved a town budget of $144,073,849, which is 2.09 percent higher than this year's budget, according to the Advertiser. In addition, the school budget of $86,240,844 was also approved, added the Advertiser.
