Bridgeport Man Gets 52 1/2 Years For Murder During Drug Deal
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — A city man, Elizardo Montanez, was convicted last week of killing a New York drug dealer in 2014 and sentenced to 52 1/2 years in prison, according to the Connecticut Post.
Montanez, who was convicted of murder, conspiracy to commit murder, possession of narcotics with intent to sell and possession of a pistol without a permit, shot Ernesto Reyes-Santos, of Brooklyn, N.Y., in his upper back after coming to Bridgeport for a drug deal with Montanez, said the Connecticut Post.

Wilton Selectmen Present $32 Million Budget
WILTON, Conn. -- The Wilton of Board of Selectman approved a 2017 budget of $32,414,880, a 0.05 decrease from last year's budget, during a budget workshop earlier this month, according to the Wilton Bulletin.
The budget, $17,315 less than last year, leaves a $2.5 million shortfall, which the Board of Finance said they will have to find ways to deal with, said the Wilton Bulletin.

Newtown's Sandy Hook Families Praise Mental Health Reforms From Murphy
NEWTOWN, Conn. -- Families who lost loved ones during the Sandy Hook shooting, including Mark Barden, who lost his 7-year-old son Daniel, are praising the Mental Health Reform Act that cleared a key congressional committee last week, according to the Hartford Courant.
Barden, along with U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., one of the bill's main sponsors, and Bill Sherlach, who's wife, Mary Sherlach, also was killed, praised the mental health legislation that proposes major changes to the way mental health care is provided in the country, said the Hartford Courant.
