Monmouth U Releases NH Projections In Shrinking GOP Race
Monmouth University has released poll results just ahead of the second Republican primary of the 2024 presidential campaign. The poll shows former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley gaining independent support, but still trailing former President Donald Trump in New Hampshire. It says 52 percent of New Hampshire GOP voters supported Trump, while 34 percent backed Haley. The poll was run in partnership with The Washington Post. A man is facing more than a decade in prison after he was accused of using an Asbury Park store and a Brick Township home to sell cocaine, authorities said. Henry Burns, 56, of Brick Township, pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine in an amount greater than five ounces with intent to distribute and being a certain person not to possess a weapon. Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer announced the guilty plea on Monday, Jan. 22. A new study said New Jersey is the second-worst state to retire in 2024, pointing to the Garden State's high costs for taxpayers and lack of healthcare facilities. Former NJ Elections Official Sentenced In OT Scheme, Paying Workers To Clean Mother's House
A former Atlantic County elections official is sentenced after pleading guilty to a kickback scheme nearly seven years ago, authorities said. Michael Gibbons, 38, of Glendora was sentenced on Friday, Jan. 12 to four years probation, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office announced on Monday, Jan. 22. The conditions of Gibbons' probation require him to spend 364 days in Atlantic County Jail, which can be served by day reporting. SUV Driver Killed In Crash With Tree In Ocean County
A Whiting woman has died when her SUV hit a tree on Saturday, Jan. 20, authorities said. Manchester Township police said officers responded to a crash near the intersection of New Mexico Avenue and Washington Lane just after 9 p.m. When they arrived, officers found a white 2018 Ford EcoSport with extensive front-end damage. An Atlantic City man was shot and killed on Saturday, Jan. 20, in another incident marking a deadly start to 2024 in the city, authorities said. An Ocean County township is looking to bring a new purpose to an area rich with history for Russian immigrants. Jackson Township is moving forward with redevelopment at the former site of Rova Farms. Wall Township police are looking for suspects who they say stole a vehicle and tried to take others. The vehicle theft and attempted thefts happened in the Governors Crossing neighborhood overnight, the Wall Township Police Department announced on Friday, Jan. 19.
