They Had FOMO So They Had Kids — Now, They Regret It: Rutgers Study FOMO: It's the fear of missing out and exactly what a group of now-regretful parents say pushed them to have children, a study by Rutgers University has found. The study found that one in every 14 parents in the United States, or about 7 percent, say they wouldn’t have children if they could do it over again, according to the study. Rates of parental regret are even higher in parts of Europe, such as Germany (8 percent) and Poland (13.6 percent), Rutgers University said in a release. Sex Assault Strangulation Among Charges For Somerset County Attacker: Prosecutor A 42-year-old Somerset County man has been charged with sexually assaulting a woman who he knew earlier this month, authorities said. Mateo Espinal-Brito, of Franklin Township, is accused of sexually assaulting the woman early Monday, Sept. 11, Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald said. Pedestrian Airlifted After Being Struck By Pickup Outside NJ Wendy's: Cops A 67-year-old Florida resident was hospitalized in critical condition after being struck by a pickup truck in Hackettstown last week, authorities said. The Wildwood, FL man was crossing the access road near Wendy's on Mountain Avenue when he was struck by a 59-year-old Oxford Township man in a Chevy pickup truck around 4:45 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, Hackettstown police said. Ex-CT Police Officer Being Held As Fugitive In Burglary Spree In NJ: Police A former police officer in Connecticut was being held as a fugitive in New Jersey, in connection with a string of burglaries, authorities said. Connecticut State Police said only that Patrick Hemingway was being held in Essex County, and that the arrest warrant had not yet been served. Hemingway is a former officer with the Glastonbury Police Department, who last week said only that one of their former officers is a person of interest in a burglary investigation spanning multiple jurisdictions. Firefighters Knock Down House Fire Closed Holmdel Street Firefighters knocked down a fire that closed a street in Holmdel Monday, Sept. 25. The blaze broke out around 11:10 a.m., bringing firefighters from several companies to Holmdel Road. All residents had evacuated when police arrived, and the blaze was put out by firefighters, police said. No injuries were reported.
