Phil Pepe, Popular Yankees Beat Writer, Author, Dies At 80 Popular Yankees beat writer for the New York Daily News, Phil Pepe, died on Sunday, according to the Daily News. He was 80.  Pepe, who lived in Englewood, N.J., covered the Yankees for the Daily News from 1968-1981. In 1982 he became the Daily News' sports columnist, the Daily News reported.  Pepe left newspapers in 1989 to do morning sports on WCBS radio, where he held his "Pep Talks" for 15 years. Faust Intermediate School Performs Annual Winter Concert EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- A.S. Faust Intermediate School in East Rutherford held its annual winter concert at Becton Regional High School on Dec. 10. A total of 107 band members and 101 choir members participated in front of a large audience of family and friends.  Highlights from the program included “All About that Bass”, and “Feliz Navidad,"performed by the concert band, and a swinging arrangement of “Frosty the Snowman” by the jazz band.  The concert choir featured two soloists, Leianna Rodriguez, “Last Christmas” and Zalma Chacon, “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?”

Two Charged With Gun, Cocaine, Marijuana Possession In I-87 Stop  New York Sate Police arrested two Bronx men on gun and drug charges following a traffic stop on Interstate 87  in Greenburgh on Friday, Dec. 11, according to officials.  Algernon D. Martin, 19, and Vashan J. Chiddick, 22, were in a vehicle stopped for allegedly speeding on the Thruway. During the stop, Troopers discovered a loaded .45 caliber hand gun, a small quantity of cocaine, and marijuana. He was 61. Janucik was born in Radule, Poland to Helena Rogalewska Janucik and the late Kazimierz Janucik. He was A resident of Bridgeport For 22 years where he worked as a welder for Anco Engineering. Janucik was predeceased by his wife Wieslawa Dolegiewicz Janucik. Survivors include, Radek Janucik of Bpt., Mateusz and his wife Justyna Janucik of Derby, a sister-in-law, Ewa Rakowicz of Poland. Betty Celone, 93, Bridgeport Resident BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Bridgeport resident Betty F. (DelVento) Celone died on Wednesday, Dec. 9. She was 93. Celone was the widow of Louis J. Celone to whom she was happily married for 57 years.  Born on Christmas day in 1921, Celone attended St. Augustine's Elementary School and graduated from Bullard- Havens Technical School. During the Second World War, while her future husband and her brother Pat DelVento served in the military, Betty did her part working for General Electric making flight suits for the war effort.
