Old Tappan Inducts Its National Honors Society Members OLD TAPPAN, N.J. -- Northern Valley Regional High School at Old Tappan inducted members into its National Honor Society recently. The seniors recognized this month included: Kevin Bae, Tara Bailey, Brittany Barry, Jack Bressman, Denisa Costea, Kaci Kopec, Matthew Lee, Seung-Won Na, NaYoung Park, So Young Park, Christopher Pella, Jolie Rosen, Simon Song and Nicholas Stefanidis.  Principal Bruce Sabatini congratulated the honorees at a celebration early this month.

He was 66. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, Dec. 19, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Dumont. He was 89.Before retiring, Maywood was a Police Sergeant with the Maywood Police Department. Freeholders Honor Wayne's Patriot Pickle With Proclamation WAYNE, N.J. -- The Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders recently honored Wayne's Patriot with its Business Appreciation Award.  The proclamation touted Patriot Pickle for hiring and employing local residents and noted its growth as the company expands into Massachusetts and Camden.  Patriot Pickle was founded in 2004 and currently employs 70 people who manufacture more than 300 varieties of pickles and pickle products.

Video Shows Route 9 Gas Station Clerk Fighting Off Armed Robbery Suspect STAATSBURG, N.Y. -- New York State Police are investigating the armed robbery of a gas station in Staatsburg on Tuesday and released a videotape of the incident in which the store clerk fought off the suspect. A white male reportedly entered the Citgo Mini Mart on Route 9 at approximately 8 p.m. armed with a shotgun and demanded money from the clerk. The clerk then tried to overpower the suspect who attempted to flee, State Police said.  The clerk continued to struggle with the suspect outside of the store. Stamford Man Charged With DUI After Driving With Infant In Car STAMFORD, Conn. -- A Stamford man was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after blowing nearly three-times the legal limit with his child in the car on Saturday, according to the Stamford Advocate.  Saul Gomez-Galeano, 37, was allegedly speeding and passed a church bus by crossing a double yellow line. Authorities pulled Gomez-Galeano over and found his infant child in the back seat along with the child's mother.
