She was 91. Born and raised in Garfield, she resided in Elmwood Park for 40 years before moving to Fair Lawn over 19 years ago. Florence T. DeRoo, 93, of North Haledon NORTH HALEDON, N.J. -- Florence T. DeRoo passed died on Monday, Dec. 7. She was 93. Born in Fair Lawn,  she was a long time resident of Hawthorne and Prospect Parkbefore moving to North Haledon in 2002.  DeRoo was a Dietary Aide at the Christian Health Care Center in Wyckoff  before retiring in 1987. She was a member of the Unity Christian Reformed Church in Prospect Park.  DeRoo's twin brother Clarence and her sister Jessie Van Oss predecease her.  Florence is survived by her brother Albert G. DeRoo of Sussex along with fourteen nieces and nephews along with many great nieces and nephews.…

Former Millbrook Resident Douglas Tompkins, North Face Co-Founder Dies MILLBROOK, N.Y. -- Former Millbrook resident and co-founder of The North Face and Esprit clothing companies Douglas Tompkins died in Chile on Tuesday, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal.  Tompkins grew up in Millbrook and graduated from Millbrook High School. He was kayaking with five others in Chile when strong waves capsized his boat. Tompkins died in an area hospital due to complications from hypothermia, the Poughkeepsie Journal reported.  Tompkins helped found The North Face in 1964. Darien Police Charge Two Brooklyn Men In Identity Theft Scam DARIEN, Conn. -- Darien police arrested two Brooklyn men who were allegedly involved in an identity theft scam, according to the Darien Times. Yeiniesh Lee and Daymon Arnold, both 35, were charged after a Darien resident found a package outside of her home containing three iPhones that she did not order. Lee and Arnold allegedly approached the victim's home.
