Bridgeport Man Gets 120 Years In Prison For Selling 'Bath Salts' Online BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- A Bridgeport man was sentenced to 120 years in prison for possessing and distributing bath salts online in Gulfport, Miss., according to U.S. Attorney Gregory K. Davis.  Rasheed Ali Muhammad,42, was sentenced Monday to a total of 1,440 months in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and possessing with intent to distribute bath salts, a recreational designer drug.  Muhammad was also ordered to pay a $25,000 fine and restitution of $121,425.61 to United Parcel Service, the U.S. attorney said. …

Pets Can Pass Along Diseases To Humans, Study Finds FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Recent research suggests household pets can transmit infection to people with weakened immune systems, including seniors, pregnant women and children, according to CTV News.  The Canadian Medical Association Journal said that infection can be spread via bites, scratches, saliva or animal waste, CTV News reported.  The largest culprits in the study were reptiles, who were responsible for 11 percent of Salmonella infections in people under 21 in the study, CTV News said.  Click here to read the full article.

Patterson Man Charged In Domestic Dispute PATTERSON, N.Y. -- A Patterson man was charged with first-degree criminal contempt during an apparent domestic dispute on Monday, according to officials.  Martin Larghi, 47, allegedly violated an order of protection when he shoved someone during a dispute at a Patterson residence, police said.  Larghi was arraigned at the Town of Patterson Court where he was remanded to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond. He is scheduled to return court on May 14, police said.
