RCC Foundation Awards $40,000 In Scholarships
RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Thirty-one new Rockland Community College students will receive almost $40,000 in scholarships as they begin their college journey during a special reception on Monday, Oct. 17, at the school.The event, which begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Student Union, is hosted by the Rockland Community College Foundation, which funds the scholarships.

Two Killed, Three Injured In Orange County Crash
Two people were killed and three others injured Sunday during a one-vehicle accident near Route 6 in Slate Hill in Orange County, according to New York State Police.
Responding troopers found a Ford F-350 pickup truck had driven off the roadway and struck a utility pole. All five of the occupants were thrown from the vehicle, police said.

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- A Manhattanville College lacrosse player who graduated from Brookfield, Conn., High School and who lived in Fishkill, was struck and killed by an automobile driven by a Rye woman who was allegedly driving drunk, according to multiple sources.Robby Schartner, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene after he was hit by a 2012 Nissan Sentra driven by 24-year-old Emma Fox, of Rye at Westchester Avenue and Anderson Hill Road in White Plains at about 5 a.m. Sunday, according to ABC 7.
