North Avenue Bridge In Westport Closes For Construction Wednesday WESTPORT, Conn. -- The North Avenue Bridge will be closed to all traffic Wednesday from 10 p.m. to about 3 a.m. for construction work.Detour notices will be in place, and residents are urged to seek alternate routes.  The state Department of Transportation has been engaged in a major repair project on the North Avenue Bridge, which crosses the Merritt Parkway since early 2015. Currently, the bridge is limited to alternating single-lane traffic controlled by a traffic signal.

Fairfield County's Rail Crossings Safer Than Most, Study Finds NORWALK, Conn. -- The railroad crossings in Fairfield County are safer than many parts of the country, but Norwalk had the most accidents with vehicles, according to a recent review by Hearst Connecticut Media. The review, which looked at Metro-North Railroad over the past 10 years, found that most of the accidents occurred when drivers tried to beat trains or stopped on the tracks, said the Connecticut Post.
