NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- A recent photograph taken at Compo Beach in Westport by New Canaan native Lane Coder, a professional photographer, has been selected for Apple’s 2016 Shot on the iPhone 6S advertising campaign, according to the New Canaan Advertiser. Stratford Stage Has More Time To Secure Grant Money For Theater
STRATFORD, Conn. -- A looming deadline of April 8 for the Stratford Stage Group, LLC to secure a $125,000 grant to use in renovating the Shakespeare Theatre has been expanded thanks to help from the State Historic Preservation Office, according to the Stratford Star. Nichols Fire Department Cleans Up After Car Accident On Merritt
TRUMBULL, Conn. -- The Nichols Fire Department responded to a car accident with a possible fuel spill on southbound Merritt Parkway in the area of Exit 48 on April 4, fire officials said.Once firefighters arrived on the scene, they found the accident involved one car, fire officials said. Firefighters checked for a fuel spill and remained at the scene until the accident was cleared.

Proposed Budget In Danbury Keeps Taxes Low With 1 Percent Increase
DANBURY, Conn. -- The proposed 2016-17 budget for Danbury keeps spending increases low at about two percent for salaries and wages, while making sure there are no layoffs or cuts in services to residents, according to WLAD. Mayor Mark Boughton, who presented the budget to the City Council Monday, said the tax increase translates to about $60 a year more for homeowners, said WLAD. Stamford Man Charged With Beating Disabled Family Member
STAMFORD, Conn. -- A Stamford man has been charged with beating up a disabled family member after coming home drunk and getting in an argument with the man who suffers from polio, according to the Stamford Advocate. Police said Rangel Hernandez, 37, was charged April 4 with assault on person with a disability, second-degree assault and three counts of risk of injury to a child, for attacking the 37-year-old disabled family member, said the Stamford Advocate. STRATFORD, Conn. -- Stratford firefighters doused a fire at a Barnum Avenue building Tuesday that started on the ground floor of the three-story structure, according to the Connecticut Post. Firefighters arrived at the home at 2074 Barnum Ave. around 8:30 p.m. to find a fire on the first-floor of the building, the Connecticut Post reported.
