Two adults are facing charges after they went unconscious in a vehicle, believed due to intoxication, leaving two young children to call for help, police in Prince William County said. Kevan Magallanes, 40, and Autumn Foss Hales, 24, were parked on the 1500 block of Carter Lane when they both went unconscious "suspectedly due to intoxication" around 12:45 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7, county police said. A car fire on a New Jersey roadway has been linked to the shooting of two Philadelphia police officers that left one dead on Thursday evening, Oct. 12, authorities said. Police in South Brunswick said only that the vehicle fire extinguished on Route 32 around 1 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13, was connected to the shooting. The vehicle fire came nearly two hours after Philadelphia Police Officers Richard Mendez and Raul Ortiz were shot at Philadelphia Airport. A 14-year-old boy who threw liquid sour candy on a carjacking victim has been arrested, but another suspect remains at large, police in Virginia said. Detectives from the Tysons Urban Team responded to a parking garage in the 7900 block of Tysons Corner Center in McLean around 6:20 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, Fairfax County police said. A 43-year-old man wanted out of Ohio was being held without bond after stealing a semi-truck and barricading himself inside for hours, police in Prince William County said. Someone in Alexandria is about $1 million richer, and someone is Arlington is pocketing $50,000 after playing the Powerball. According to the Virginia Lottery, an Alexandria resident won the million-dollar prize in the Wednesday, Oct. 11 drawing. A ticket good for $50,000 was sold at the 7-Eleven on South Wakefield Street, in Arlington. The winning numbers were 22-24-40-52-64, and the Powerball number was 10. One ticket nationwide matched all six numbers to win the jackpot. That ticket was bought in California. The jackpot is now $20 million for Saturday’s drawing.

Horses Test Positive For Herpes, Property Quarantined In Sussex County
Horses on a Sussex County property have been quarantined after two of them tested positive for equine herpes, state officials said. One horse, a 7-year-old Standardbred mare, developed illness on Oct. 1, and improved clinically after prompt medical treatment, the NJ Department of Agriculture said. Six days later a second horse, a 3-year-old Standardbred mare developed clinical signs of fever and recumbency and was humanely euthanized due to severe clinical deterioration, the NJDA said.
