Teen Shot Dead In Loudoun County Mourned As 'Funny, Sweet' Support was on the rise for the family of an 18-year-old man fatally shot last week in Loudoun County. Alex Omar Cartagena Jr. was shot on the 21000 block of Stanford Square in Sterling around 10:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office said. He was pronounced dead at the scene. 1 Dead, 1 Critical When Car Slams Concrete Barrier In Philadelphia One person died and another was critically injured in a Philadelphia crash Thursday, Sept. 7, police said. It happened at 600 N. Delaware Avenue around 6:15 p.m., police said. A 58-year-old man was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead just after 7:05 p.m. One of two passengers was placed in critical condition, while an update on the third victim wasn't immediately available. Footage from the scene posted to Citizen shows first responders extricating the victims from an older Honda sedan that struck the concrete barrier.

Massage Therapist Sexually Assaults Client In Virginia: Sheriff A 54-year-old massage therapist was arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a female client while giving her a massage at a Loudoun County spa, authorities said. Xudong “Gilbert” Hu, 54 of Reston, was charged on Wednesday, Sept. 6, following an investigation by Detectives with the Loudoun County Sheriff's Special Victims Unit, with one count of obscene sexual display. Severe Thunderstorm Watch In Effect For Much Of Region With a round of storms moving from west to east in interior portions of the region, a Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for much of the area The watch is in effect until 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7 across DC, MD, NJ, PA, and VA. Cops Coax Barricade Suspect Out Of Fairfax County Home In Foreign Language (Update) Farsi-speaking police officers coaxed a barricaded man out of his Fairfax County home amid a standoff Thursday afternoon, Sept. 7, authorities said. The man exposed himself in front of children and then barricaded inside of a home on the 900 block of Piney Grove Drive in Merrifield, county police said. 13 Dead, 4,475 Speeders Stopped Over Labor Day Weekend In Virginia Thirteen people died in 10 traffic crashes over Labor Day weekend in Virginia, and five of the accidents involved motorcycles, State Police said. Virginia State Police also stopped 4,475 speeders and 1,945 reckless drivers. State troopers also cited 491 seat belt violations and 150 child restraint violations, over the holiday weekend. Maryland Mom's Illegally-Parked Car Towed From Pentagon City Mall With Kids Inside A Maryland mother whose illegally-parked vehicle was towed from outside of an Arlington mall with her children inside is facing charges, officials said. Chaukina Thomas, 26, of Suitland, emerged "hysterical" from the Fashion Centre at Pentagon City Tuesday morning, Sept. 5 "hysterical," thinking her car had been stolen, according to NBC Washington and Arlington County spokeswoman Ashley Savage.
