A bull wandering onto the tracks in Newark caused trains to be delayed up to 45 minutes between Newark Penn Station and Penn Station New York, NJ Transit said.  Rail tickets and passes are being crossed honored by PATH, Hoboken, Newark Penn and 33rd Street New York, NJ Transit said. It is unknown how the bull got onto the train tracks.

The Sheraton Hotel in Mahwah, which opened in 1986, officially shut its doors on Thursday, Dec.14, to be replaced by two warehouses at the 1 International Blvd. site.  The 22-story hotel was the tallest structure in the township. Washington Township Mayor Matt Murrello announced on Facebook last week that the town will be offering ice skating on the infield of Palmer Park baseball field. Pedestrian Fatally Struck By NJ Transit Train In North Jersey: Officials A pedestrian was fatally struck by an NJ Transit train at Union Station on Wednesday, Dec. 13, transit officials said. At 10:20 p.m., a Raritan Valley Line train, which departed Penn Station 40 minutes earlier, struck and fatally injured the pedestrian, NJ Transit said. There were no injuries reported to the 200 customers or crew on board the train, NJ Transit said. Raritan Valley Line service was suspended in both directions but later resumed, NJ Transit said. The pedestrian has not been identified.  New Jersey Transit police are leading the investigation.

Englewood Man Killed On Garden State Parkway Remembered As 'Kind-Hearted Gentle Person' Andres Felipe Valencia-Castano, an Englewood resident, was killed on the Garden State Parkway in Clifton on Sunday, Dec. 3 when he was struck by a vehicle while parked on the shoulder. He was 33 years old. "Felipe was always found smiling and would do his best to always go out of his way to help others;" Samina Sanders, who organized a fundraiser for Valencia-Castano's family, said. Elderly Man Killed In West Orange House Fire: Police A senior citizen was killed in a West Orange house fire on Tuesday morning, Dec. 12, police said.  West Orange police and fire responded to 30 Park Drive South at 10:30 a.m. and reported heavy smoke and fire in the structure, police said.  The victim, whose name has not been released, was removed from the residence and taken to Cooperman-Barnabas Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead an hour later, police.
