Thunderstorms May Add To Dreary Rain, Mist In Shelton FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — A low pressure system off the coast of New Jersey could produce pockets of heavy rain and a potential thunderstorm in Fairfield County, according to the National Weather Service. Rain will continue throughout the day with up to a half inch of precipitation possible. Lakeland Wins 8th Straight State Field Hockey Championship SHRUB OAK, N.Y. -- The Lakeland High School field hockey team continued its dynastic run by securing its eighth consecutive state championship by defeating Garden City High School 1-0 on Sunday. Cameron Lischinsky scored the lone goal with 5:37 left in the first half off an assist from defensive standout Mia Lennon. Lischinsky's goal was the game winner as well on Saturday in the state semifinal versus Iroquois. Lakeland out shot Garden City 7-2 and had five corners to their two. Coastal Flood Advisory Issued For Southern Fairfield County FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- High tide coupled with strong winds have prompted the National Weather Service to issue a coastal flood advisory for southern Fairfield County from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday morning. Tides are expected to be up to 1 foot higher than normal, which could cause some of the most vulnerable coastal roads to flood. Rain is also in the forecast with up to half an inch possible. Partly sunny skies will return to the area on Wednesday with a high in the low 60s.

Crash Involving Overturned Tractor-Trailer Snarls Morning Commute On I-84 An overturned tractor trailer on the eastbound span of the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge on Monday morning, according to News 12 Westchester. The truck lost control and slammed into a concrete barrier around 4:30 a.m. The impact ripped the trailer open and spilled household supplies and liquid petroleum onto Insterstate 84, News 12 Westchester reported. Stony Point Passes $15.1M Budget With Tax Decrease STONY POINT, N.Y. -- Stony Point officials voted to approve a $15.1 million budget that will feature a 1.01 percent property tax decrease on Wednesday, according to lohud.com. Town Board members had originally expected to see property taxes for homeowners jump by 1.36 percent. The cut is expected to save the average homeowner about $45, lohud.com reported. Stony Point officials were able to execute the tax cut by pulling funds from other capital projects.
