Stratford Softball Game Benefits Fallen Firefighter STRATFORD, Conn. – A charity softball game to benefit the family of fallen Stratford firefighter Jason Carrafiello will be held on Friday at Deluca Field.  The Stratford Fire Department will go up against the Stratford Ladies Brakettes. The event will feature a full nine-inning game as well as a home run derby.  Carrafiello died suddenly last Dec. 26 at the age of 38. Will Ferrell Surprises Ridgefield Native With $100K Scholarship On 'Today' RIDGEFIELD, Conn. – Ridgefield native Samantha Watts was surprised by comedy legend Will Ferrell with a $100,000 scholarship on the Today Show Tuesday.  Watts, who is studying Speech Language Pathology at Ithaca College, was one of nearly 2,000 people who applied for the contest.  Watts told the Today Show she needed the money for graduate school after her families finances took a hit while her father battled esophageal cancer.  When host Hoda Kotb told Watts she had won the scholarship, Watts burst into tears. Edith Wheeler Library Eliminates Wednesday Hours Due To Budget Cut MONROE, Conn. – The Edith Wheeler Library will no longer be open on Wednesdays starting on July 1 due to town budget cuts.  The Library will still be open on: Mondays and Tuesdays: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The library will be closed on Sundays until October. The meeting room will still be available to outside groups on Wednesdays. Two GoFundMe Campaigns Pop Up For Bridgeport Woman Hit By Car BRIDGEPORT, Conn.  – A Bridgeport woman who was injured along with two children now has two GoFundMe campaigns hoping to help her get back on her feet, according to CTPost.  Shanta Jordan was hit by a car outside of Junco Restaurant along with two kids on May 31 in a horrifying crash. Unlocked Lincoln Navigator Stolen From Darien Home DARIEN, Conn.  – Darien Police are searching for a 2008 Lincoln Navigator that was stolen out of a Christie Hill Road driveway on Sunday. Residents contacted the police saying one vehicle parked at the residence was broken into and a wallet was stolen. Police: Realtor Tried To Auction $405K In Items Taken From Wilton Home WILTON, Conn.  – A Ridgefield realtor is facing attempted larceny charges after she tried to sell items she stole from a Wilton house she was overseeing, police said.  Barbara Morris, 66, stole items worth more than $400,000 from the home then attempted to sell it through an auction house in Stamford back in February. Morris turned herself in to authorities on June 15, police said.  Morris posted a $75,000 bond and will appear in Norwalk Superior Court on June 26.
