Thunderstorms Will Threaten Ridgewood Most Of The Weekend BERGEN COUNTY, N.J. – Clouds, rain and the threat of thunderstorms will move back into Bergen County for most of the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.  Friday will remain cloudy with rain likely. Expect highs around 70 degrees with a 70 percent chance of rain. Thunderstorms are also possible in the afternoon.  Showers and thunder will linger on Saturday morning. Temperatures will be slightly warmer with highs near, but clouds will remain throughout the day.  Expect more of the same on Sunday and into Monday with highs creeping into upper-80s.

Amazon Brokers Deal To Buy Whole Foods For $13.7 Billion Online retail giant Amazon will expand its grocery game in a big way after acquiring Whole Foods for $13.7 billion, according to multiple reports.  Whole Foods CEO John Mackey, who had reportedly been under pressure to broker a sale, will remain in his role, CNBC reported.  The $13.7 billion cash deal equates to $42 per share and is expected to close in the second half of 2017. Illegal Fireworks Spark House Fire In Stamford STAMFORD, Conn. – Stamford Firefighters responded to an external house fire on Evergreen Court that was started by illegal fireworks on Wednesday night. Crews from the City of Stamford and Turn of River responded to the 911 call that was placed just before 10 p.m. The fire had been extinguished the fire before responders arrived, officials said.  An investigation revealed the fire was ignited by a Roman Candle-style firework, officials said.  There were no reported injuries.
