'Wild Things:' Ridgefield Library Celebrates Maurice Sendak's Birthday RIDGEFIELD, Conn. — In honor of beloved children's author and Ridgefield resident, Ridgefield Library will host Maurice Sendak Birthday Celebration for families with children ages 3 to 8 on Saturday, June 10. Sendak was the author of the famous children's book "Where The Wild Things Are" as well as "In the Night Kitchen" and "Outside Over There." He was 83 when from complications of a stroke in Danbury. Activities will include stories, food and crafts from 10:30 a.m. to noon.  No registration is required for the event.

Police In Bridgeport Share Urgent Message On Deadly Carfentanil BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Bridgeport officials are warning residents about the dangers of heroin laced with Carfentanil, according to News 12 Connecticut. Carfentanil is 10,000 times more potent than morphine and when coupled with heroine is responsible for at least one death in Fairfield County this year. Darien Police Continue Search For Car Stolen From Driveway DARIEN, Conn. – Darien Police are continuing to search for a gray 2009 Toyota Matrix that was stolen from a Mansfield Avenue Driveway, according to officials.  The woman who reported the missing car said she last saw the vehicle on Wednesday, May 31 and that the vehicle was unlocked and with the keys left inside.  The woman said the vehicle was owned by her ex-husband and that the car was used by different family members. George, 90, and Maryann, 81, met on a blind date. They say the secret to making things work is communication. Police: Pickup Stolen Out Of Darien Driveway Recovered In Norwalk DARIEN, Conn. – A pickup truck stolen out of a Darien driveway was recovered by officials in Norwalk on Friday, June 2, according to Darien Police. A resident on Henry Street reported her 2015 Chevrolet Silverado missing at around 7:30 a.m. The victim said the vehicle was unlocked and there was a spare set of keys locked in the truck's center console, police said.  Authorities used the truck's OnStar system to track the vehicle to Plattsville Road in Norwalk. Local police were able to recover the vehicle and the incident remains under investigation, officials said.
