Gas Prices At Lowest Levels Since 2004, AAA Says FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Even with a holiday weekend around the corner, gas prices continue to drop, and have reached their lowest levels for this time of year since 2004, according to AAA. The national average price was $2.59 per gallon as of Aug. 24, 84 cents lower than the same date last year, AAA said. Responders Battle Mahopac Brushfire MAHOPAC, N.Y. -- Responders from the Mahopac Fire Department and the Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire department battled a brushfire that threatened homes on Tulip Drive on Wednesday.Responders were able to contain the fire within a shed before moving on to the brushfire.
