Gas Prices At Lowest Levels Since 2004, AAA Says FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Even with a holiday weekend around the corner, gas prices continue to drop, and have reached their lowest levels for this time of year since 2004, according to AAA. The national average price was $2.59 per gallon as of Aug. 24, 84 cents lower than the same date last year, AAA said. The main reasons for the drop are the continuing decline in the price of crude oil and the expected lull in demand once summer unofficially ends. Click here to read the full article.

'Boss Playa Family' Members Face Murder, Drug Charges MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- Seven members of Mount Vernon's "Boss Playa Family" (BPF) were indicted on charges of racketeering and firearms on Wednesday. One of the members will also be tried for murder, according to United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Preet Bharara. Responders Battle Mahopac Brushfire MAHOPAC, N.Y. -- Responders from the Mahopac Fire Department and the Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire department battled a brushfire that threatened homes on Tulip Drive on Wednesday.Responders were able to contain the fire within a shed before moving on to the brushfire. Mahopac Falls VFD brought a 2,500 gallon tanker as well as a brush truck to assist with the blaze.

SCARSDALE, N.Y. -- Saxon Woods Road, will be closed at the City of White Plains line for final paving on Wednesday through 7 p.m. and again on Thursday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.. The section of roadway from Black Birch Lane to Mamaroneck will again open to traffic at the end of each work day. Drivers are advised to use an alternate route to avoid delays.

Police ID Shooting Victim, Ask For Public's Help YONKERS, N.Y. -- Yonkers Police identified the man who was killed during a targeted shooting on Morningside Ave. on Tuesday afternoon, according to authorities. Kenneth Hill, 33, sustained gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at St. John's Hospital, police said. MONETA, Va. -- The man wanted for shooting a television reporter and camera man on Wednesday morning has died after shooting himself on Interstate 66 in Moneta, Va., according to multiple reports. Vester Lee Flanagan II, 41, also known as Bryce Williams, reportedly shot himself in a Ford Mustang as authorities confronted him, KTLA 5 reported.
