Panel Recommends $15 Minimum Wage For Fast-Food Workers PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- A panel appointed by Gov. Andrew Cuomo has recommended the minimum wage for fast food workers be raised to $15 an hour on Wednesday. The new wage would mean a pay increase of more than 70 percent for many fast food workers, who are currently earning the state minimum of $8.75 an hour. Yonkers Fire Displaces 4 Adults, 2 Children YONKERS, N.Y. -- A garage fire on McFadden Circle in Yonkers on Wednesday morning has left four adults and two children homeless, according to officials.  The blaze started at approximately 11:25 a.m. with 10 companies and approximately 40 firefighters who were able to get the fire under control, officials said.  The home sustained heavy fire, smoke and water damage, officials said.  The Office of Emergency Management was on the scene to assist with the displaced family, fire officials said.

Mount Vernon Man Pleads Guilty To Murdering Security Guard MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- A Mount Vernon man pleaded guilty to second-degree murder charges on Wednesday for killing a co-worker and fellow security guard, according to Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore.  Dontan Jenkins, 33, was a security guard at the Levister Towers Apartment complex along with the victim, Richard Brown, who had been employed at the complex for 10 days prior to the incident, the district attorney said.  During those 10 days, Jenkins and Brown had two altercations, including one on July 20, 2014 after another exchange of words during a change of shift. …
