Bridgeport Continues To Swelter Under Summer Scorcher; Storms Possible FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — Poor air quality added with scorching temperatures and a chance for thunderstorms are on tap for the weekend across Fairfield County.There is an Air Quality Alert for 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, which means that ozone levels within the region may exceed the safe standards for people suffering from asthma or heart disease, as well as other health ailments, according to the National Weather Service. TZB Lanes Will Close Thursday For Repairs After Crane Collapse Due to repairs following the crane collapse earlier this week, the southbound (Westchester-bound) side of the Tappan Zee Bridge will be reduced to one lane beginning at 8 p.m. Thursday.Three northbound lanes will remain open to traffic during the work. Fire Causes Heavy Damage To Putnam Lake Home PUTNAM LAKE, N.Y. -- It took more than 15 Putnam Lake firefighters to bring an early morning house fire under control this morning on Hermitage Road, according to lohud.com. When firefighters arrived at the fire, which began around 5:30 a.m. on the second floor of the home, they found it engulfed in flames, said lohud.com.
