Mega Millions Jackpot Hits $449M For Tonight's Drawing With no winner in last Saturday's drawing, the Mega Millions jackpot continues to grow. The jackpot is a whopping $449 million (or $313 million in cash) for Tuesday's drawing. The numbers will be picked at 11 p.m. tonight. It’s the biggest prize in the game since Dec. 17, 2013, when two tickets (sold in California and Georgia) shared a $648 million jackpot. The jackpot has been rolling since March 8 when a man in Washington state won at $157 million. The only other jackpot awarded this year was a $169 million prize won in New York on Jan. 8. Notorious Bridgeport Killer Resentenced To Life In Prison BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- A notorious drug kingpin who ordered the 1999 killings of a Bridgeport mother and her 8-year-old son was resentenced Friday to life in prison after the state Supreme Court outlawed the death penalty last year, according to the Connecticut Post. Russell Peeler Jr., who complained about being held in restrictive custody for the rest of his life following the resentencing, told the judge that he wanted it on the record that he objected to being segregated from other prisoners. United Way Receives Grant To Help Danbury Kids Get Ready For Kindergarten DANBURY, Conn. -- United Way of Western Connecticut has received a significant grant to help prepare incoming kindergartners at Park Avenue School in Danbury for a successful first year of school. The Grossman Family Foundation has awarded UWWC funds to support Kindergarten Summer Skills for at least 25 students who will be entering the school in the fall. The program will be held at Park Avenue School for four weeks this summer. Police Searching For Man Who Attached ATM Skimmer RONDOUT, N.Y. -- Ulster Police are investigating an ATM skimmer complaint that occurred at the Rondout Savings Bank last week.The skimming device was attached to the key pad at approximately 2:00 p.m., by a tall, skinny, white male wearing a navy blue “puffy” vest, and a black, white and red FILA truckers’ hat. Officers are asking resident for help in identifying the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call the Detective Division of the Ulster Police Department at 845-382-1111.

Clarkstown Motorcycle Unit Takes Parts In Harley Dealership Grand Opening NANUET, N.Y. -- The Clarkstown Police Honor Guard Motorcycle Unit recently took part in the grand opening of the Hudson Valley Harley Davidson Dealership on Route 304 in Nanuet. Hundreds of bikers turned out for the event that included free food, music and a raffle for a free motorcycle. The new dealership, at 33 Route 304, has hundreds of motorcycles and accessories for sale as well as a large service department.

'Newtown' Documentary Set For Wide Release In Theaters NEWTOWN, Conn. -- A documentary dealing with the aftermath of the 2012 shooting massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary, "Newtown," has been picked up by a major company that will release the film in theaters and then on TV, according to Variety. Yorktown Sculptor Donating Artwork To Town YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- A noted artist who has lived in Yorktown for more than 50 years is donating his outdoor sculpture to Yorktown in a gesture of goodwill and civic pride. Teen West Point Cadet Dies Saving Swimmer On Long Island Beach WEST POINT, N.Y. -- An 18-year-old West Point cadet died four days after saving another swimmer from a rip current at Southampton Beach on Long Island, according to multiple reports. Thomas Surdyke, of Missouri, was enjoying a day at the beach with a fellow cadet when he and another person were swept out to sea by a rip current last Friday. The other person couldn't swim.
