Crash During Chase Wrecks Putnam Deputy's Vehicle
PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- A Putnam County police cruiser was heavily damage following a high-speed chase of a speeding motorcyclists by a deputy sheriff, according to lohud.com. Deputy Michael Sutherland, was not injured during the pursuit that took place around 1:15 p.m. on Sunday, May 29. Peekskill City School District Testing For Lead In Water
PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- After reports of lead in school district waters recently made headlines, the Peekskill City School District will begin water testing on June 6. Results of the testing will be shared once the process is complete. “We have set up a plan for lead water testing and corrective actions if needed. BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- To make sure that all bases are covered when it comes to controlling the Zika virus, the Connecticut Mosquito Management Program has added Zika testing along with the West Nile virus and the Eastern Equine Encephalitis virus.The program monitors the types, numbers and locations of mosquitoes and tests them for the presence of viruses that can cause illness including West Nile virus (WNV) and Eastern Equine Encephalitis virus (EEE). Putnam Hospital Center Teens Receive Volunteer Service Awards
CARMEL, N.Y. -- Two local teens recently received the President’s Volunteer Service Award after collectively volunteering more than 700 hours at Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel.Michelle Piazza, Putnam Hospital Center’s director of volunteer and pastoral care service, presented Emma Hauser and Carolyn Brandt with their gold awards.
