Hand Grenade Discovery Causes Brief Evacuation At Stamford Dump
STAMFORD, Conn. -- The discovery of a "pineapple" hand grenade in an old trash bag by an employee caused the shutdown of the Stamford Waste Transfer station on Wednesday, according to the Stamford Advocate. Stamford police said the 1940s-era grenade was found by an employee searching through a bag of trash, the Advocate said. His interest was sparked by old newspapers and letters dated in the 1940s in the bag, and found the grenade at the bottom inside an old sock, said the Stamford Advocate. POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Applications for Dutchess County’s 2016 Municipal Consolidation & Shared Services Grant Program (MCSSGP) are now being accepted from local municipalities. Reclaim New York Launches Statewide Transparency Project
With public corruption filling the headlines, Reclaim New York has launched an effort to demand that every government expenditure is made public using the state’s Freedom of Information Laws, the organization already has requested the checkbooks of hundreds of towns, school districts, public authorities, counties and other taxpayer-funded entities. TRUMBULL, Conn. -- The Trumbull Food Pantry, which serves hundreds of Trumbull residents in need, is in need itself as pantry shelves grow empty. Currently, the pantry needs the following items: Canned fruit. Juice boxes. Snacks. Pancake/waffle mix (add-water-only variety). Syrup. Coffee – small. Toothpaste.
