Hand Grenade Discovery Causes Brief Evacuation At Stamford Dump STAMFORD, Conn. -- The discovery of a "pineapple" hand grenade in an old trash bag by an employee caused the shutdown of the Stamford Waste Transfer station on Wednesday, according to the Stamford Advocate.  Stamford police said the 1940s-era grenade was found by an employee searching through a bag of trash, the Advocate said.
