Duncan McManus, Susan Rykowski Named Valedictorian, Salutatorian In Croton
CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- Croton-Harmon High School's Class of 2016 valedictorian Duncan McManus and salutatorian Susan Rykowski, both point to their school and its close-knit community, as a reason for their success.McManus, who will be attending Brown University, is described by his school counselor Tanya Thibideau as “exceptional.”

Residents Checked Out 106,000 Items From Pelham Library Last Year
PELHAM, N.Y. -- Most people may think of their local library as a quiet spot, but visit the Pelham Public Library and residents will find a bustling library full of activity with residents of all ages taking out books, studying or just reading.
The library is so busy in fact that in a recent report to the state Department of Education, the library found that a total of 106,597 items were checked out in 2015, including books, electronic media and downloaded files, the library said.

TBZ Grant Funding Leaves Out 2 River Communities
ORANGETOWN, N.Y. -- Two of nine Hudson River communities -- Orangetown and Grand View -- were left out of state Thruway Authority grant funding for waterfront improvements, according to lohud.com.
The more than $1.5 million in funding went to Tarrytown, Sleepy Hollow and Irvington in Westchester County and Piermont, Nyack, South Nyack and Upper Nyack in Rockland. Grants ranged in amounts from $300,000 to $163,000, said lohud.com.
