Relay for Life At Iona Raises More Than $57,000 NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- More than 450 participants on 23 teams joined together at Iona College recently to celebrate, remember and fight back against cancer by walking for Relay for Life.The students walked from 6 p.m. to 4 a.m. showing their support for cancer survivors and in the process raise more than $57,000 in donations from students and local organizations.  The theme of this year’s event was Western, and the slogan was “Giving Cancer the Boot.” The night was complete with games such as scavenger hunts, Miss Relay Pageant, Zumba and even a mechanical bull.  Students also had the opport…

Bridgeport Man Arrested On Drugs And Weapons Charges BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- A Bridgeport man wanted for three counts of failing to appear in court was tracked down by state troopers in a gang unit who found that his home was being used for a drug operation, according to the Connecticut Post. Troopers from the Statewide Urban Violence Task Force arrested Dominique Bigger, 22, outside his home at 331 Maple St., without incident, the Connecticut Post reported. Fire Heavily Damages Danbury Home DANBURY, Conn. -- Two adults and three children escaped injury when their home on Kenosia Avenue in Danbury was heavily damaged by fire on Thursday, April 14, according to the Connecticut Post.  The fire started near the fireplace of the single-family home, Assistant Fire Chief Mark Omasta told the Connecticut Post. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire in the one-story home, but the structure still received extensive damage, said the Connecticut Post. The five residents were left homeless.
