Malloy's Proposes Closing Bridgeport Juvenile Detention Center To Cut Costs BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Under new proposed spending cuts presented by Gov. Dannel Malloy, one of the targets would be the juvenile detention center in Bridgeport at a savings of $11 million, according to the Connecticut Post. If closed, some 130 staff positions would be eliminated. Juveniles housed in the facility would be moved to a detention center in Hartford, which has open space, said the Connecticut Post.
