Mahwah Officials Introduce Reduced Budget MAHWAH, N.J. -- Township council members and Mayor Bill Lafore said they shaved $200,000 from the 2016-17 budget in an effort keep property tax increases to 1 percent, according to NorthJersey.com.Under the new, lower budget, the proposed tax rate is 38.6 cents per $100 in assessed valuation, meaning a home assessed at $485,000, would see a tax increase of $18.94, said NorthJersey.com. Head Of Danbury War Memorial Becomes City's Veteran Services Officer DANBURY, Conn. -- The Danbury City Council recently named Danny Hayes, of Newtown, as the new head of the Danbury Veterans Affairs Committee, a position that has been vacant since the death of Patrick Waldron in 2014, according to WLAD.com. Currently the director of the Danbury War Memorial, Hayes's official title will be Veteran Services Officer. The Danbury War Memorial will provide services that the city used to provide.
