Danbury Begins Spring Leaf Pickup Next Week
DANBURY, Conn. -- Even with the snow this weekend, it's time to rake those leaves, as the City of Danbury’s free Spring Leaf Pick-Up Program begins Monday April 18 and will continue for six weeks through Friday May 27.Only leaves bagged in paper leaf bags with no tape should be left at curbside for the city’s Highway Department to pick-up. City officials said nothing plastic, including plastic bags will be picked up. Residents should note, that large debris, rocks, dirt, branches and garbage will be picked up separately. New Canaan Youth Arrested Following Fight
NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- New Canaan police arrested Young Kirk, 19, of New Canaan on Thursday, April 7, for second-degree breach of peace, interfering with an officer, and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia following a fight, according to the New Canaan Advertiser. The arrest occurred around 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Park and Pine streets after police came upon a fight. Fired Westport Whole Foods Worker Files $15M Lawsuit
WESTPORT, Conn. -- A former meat cutter at the Whole Foods meat in Westport filed a $15 million lawsuit against the company alleging that he was fired because he complained about the store selling tainted meat, according to the Connecticut Post. Angel Figueroa, 44, said in his lawsuit that he was fired a day after filing a complaint with the health department about employees not following hygienic practices, the Post said. East Fishkill's Parade Forces Road Closures In Hopewell Hamlet
EAST FISHKILL, N.Y. -- The Town of East Fishkill will be holding the annual Recreation Opening Day parade beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, and as a result, Hopewell Hamlet will be closed during the parade, according to the East Fishkill Police Department.The parade will line up at 8:30 a.m. on Trinka Lane and proceed down Route 82 to Route 376 and into the Hopewell Recreation Center. Danbury City Council Gets Tougher On Noise
DANBURY, Conn. -- Forget about hosting a large, noisy party in Danbury, changes to the city's noise ordinance will leave the party's hosts with a $250 fine, according to WLAD.com. Under the changes, the Danbury City Council has done away with the requirement for a noise reader, instead adopting a standard called "plainly audible," which targets noisy cars and large outdoor parties of 10 or more people who create a lot of noise, said WLAD.com.
