Driver Found Dead In Car 3.5 Hours After Virginia Crash: State Police A 35-year-old driver was found dead in a vehicle hours after crashing it Monday, Sept. 11, police said. Ricky L. Shell, of Alton, was behind the wheel of a Kia Spectra when he failed to maneuver a curve on Route 11 (Lee Highway) in Rappahannock County, Virginia State Police Sgt. Brent Coffey said. Shell's vehicle ran off the left side of the roadway, went through a fence, down an embankment, and struck a tree 150 feet west of Route 522 (Sperryville Pike). Firearms, Ammo Seized From 18-Year-Old Man Charged With Attempted Murder In NJ Shooting Spree Numerous firearms and ammunition were seized from the home of an 18-year-old man who police say fired shots into three Somerset County homes in early-September. Ryan Vandermeer, 18, of Hillsborough, is being held in the Somerset County Jail on charges of attempted murder and various weapons offenses in connection with the incidents on Sept. 3 and Sept. 5, Somerset County Prosecutor John P. Knife-Wielding Man Arrested After Summit Church Fight: Police A 63-year-old man was arrested after a fight involving a knife at a Summit church on Tuesday, Sept. 12, police said. Derrick M. Jones, who police said is "unhoused," was charged with third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, following the 10:30 a.m. incident at Beacon Unitarian Universalist Congregation on Waldron Avenue, local police said. Police said only that they had responded to an altercation between two males involving a knife. After responding to the scene, police seized the knife and arrested Jones without incident. No injuries were reported.

Virginia Hiker Dies Attempting 24-Mile Grand Canyon Trek A 55-year-old Virginia man died during an attempt to hike across the Grand Canyon in Arizona. Ranjith Varma of Manassas, set out on Saturday, Sept. 9 to make the 24-mile "Rim-To-Rim" trek in a single day, the National Park Service said. Computer Sex Act With Minor: NY Man Surrenders To Police In MontCo, Authorities Say A 21-year-old New York man surrendered to authorities in Pennsylvania on charges relating to online sex acts with a minor, police said. Daniel Belizaire, of Flushing, was charged with various counts of capturing a sex act involving a child on a computer, sending photos of sex acts involving a child, child pornography and corruption of minors, police in Lower Moreland said.
