Flight From Newark To Rome Drops 28K Feet In 8 Minutes
A United Airlines flight headed to Rome diverted back to Newark after a scary pressurization issue. United Airlines Flight 510 dropped more than 28,000 feet in less than 10 minutes, approximately 90 minutes after departing Newark Liberty International Airport around 8:40 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, according to flight-tracking website FlightAware. The Boeing 777 hit its highest altitude of 37,000 feet at 10:07 p.m., but plummeted to 8,000 feet by 10:15 p.m., records show. These 27 NJ Boston Market Stores Have Reopened After Failing To Pay 314 Workers
The 27 Boston Market stores in New Jersey that were issued stop work orders last month for failing to pay hundreds of employees have reopened. It gets better, the workers have been compensated. The chicken chain became the center of an investigation by the state's labor department when East Hanover employee Cathy Grimes reported that she and the dozen workers she managed hadn't been paid for two months, the DOL said. Baby, Dog Die After Being Left In Hot Car For 6+ Hours By Virginia Caretaker: Sheriff
A 40-year-old Virginia woman has been arrested for leaving a baby and dog in a hot car for nearly six hours, where both died. Kristen Danielle Graham, of Seaford, had been caring for the child — whose mom is 17 years old — for two days, York County Sheriff Ron Montgomery said. Around 1 a.m. on Sept. 12, Graham went to bring cigarettes to a friend caring for an elderly man in Newport News, Montgomery said. Virginia Man Busted With Child Porn: Police
A 20-year-old northern Virginia man was arrested on child pornography charges, authorities said. Mario Esteman Alvarez Benitez, of Dumfries, became the focus of an investigation thanks to a tip from Fairfax County police in August, Prince William County police said. A search warrant at Benitez's home turned up child porn, and Benitez was charged with one count of possession of child porn and nine counts of possession of child porn as a second offense. Fairfax County's Nicholas Hoy Dies Week Before Marrying College Sweetheart
Support is on the rise for a bride-to-be who lost her Fairfax County husband a week before their wedding. Nicholas Robert Hoy, of Vienna, died Sunday, Sept. 10, due to a medical emergency, according to his obituary and a GoFundMe page. A GoFundMe for Nick's fiance, Haley Benetti, said the cause of death was an unexplained medical emergency. The campaign had raised more than $12,800 as of Thursday, Sept. 14. Escaped DC Murder Suspect Remains At Large Day After Calvacante's Capture
The search for an escaped Washington DC murder suspect remains active a day after Danelo Cavalcante's capture. Christopher Haynes, a Manassas, VA native charged in the Aug. 12 murder of Brent Hayward, escaped from the George Washington University Hospital on Wednesday, Sept. 6. DC Metro police last week released an image of the 30-year-old, and this week increased the reward for his arrest to $30,000. A disabled tractor trailer caused miles of backups Thursday morning, Sept. 14 on I-95 in Virginia. Inmate's Relatives Paid Burlington Corrections Officer To Bring Him Pot, Tobacco: Prosecutor
A former corrections officer at the Burlington County Jail has been arrested on accusations he supplied an inmate with marijuana and tobacco, authorities announced. Abraham Olmedia's arrest comes after the odor of burnt tobacco emanated from a cell, Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw said.
