2 Kids Rushed To Hospital After Car Strike In Waterbury Two children were struck by a car in Waterbury, Connecticut, this week and hospitalized, but doctors say both are expected to recover. The crash happened around 8:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18, near Sylvan Avenue and Keefe Street, according to police. Both children were walking when a car hit them, Waterbury police said. They suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The driver stayed at the scene and was not hurt, paramedics said.

A ShotSpotter alert sent officers rushing to the corner of Ferry Street and River Street around 4:45 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 18, New Haven Police said.  Police found Dennis Atkinson, 40, of New Haven, lying on the sidewalk with several gunshot wounds. Hartford firefighters were called to a home on Shultas Place around 2:36 a.m. Monday. When crews arrived, the house was already engulfed in flames, officials said.
