ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- A day after the Rockland County Legislature released its revisions to the 2017 budget, County Executive Ed Day says their version of the budget is just "smoke and mirrors." Poughkeepsie Teen In Critical Condition After Being Hit By Car
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- A 15-year-old Poughkeepsie girl is in critical condition after being hit by a car while walking on South Chodikee Lake Road in Highland on Monday, according to the Lloyd Police Department. The girl was struck by a 51-year-old Highland man as he was traveling southbound in his 1999 Honda Accord around 7 p.m., police said. The girl was flown to Westchester Medical Center with serious head and leg injuries where she is listed in critical conditions, police added. SCARSDALE, N.Y. -- Funeral services have been set for Dr. John Salimbene who perished in a fire that ripped through the family's Scarsdale Boulevard home Sunday afternoon on his 85th birthday. Calling hours will be held from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at Westchester Funeral Home, 190 Main St., Eastchester. Rockland County Legislators Pass Budget With First Tax Cut In 11 Years
ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Rockland County Legislature passed a $705 million 2017 budget that for the first time in 11 years provides a modest property tax break for homeowners. The amendments added to the original budget presented by County Executive Ed Day resulted in a 0.43 percent tax cut next year, the first cut since 2007. SCARSDALE, N.Y. -- Dr. John Salimbene, who perished in a fire that ripped through the family's Scarsdale Boulevard home Sunday evening, turned 85 on the day he died, his son Michael Salimbene told News 12. Salimbene, along with his wife Marie, were inside the home when the fire broke out around 3:30 p.m. Marie was able to make it out of the house with serious burns, but her husband, who was believed to be in the basement, was trapped.
