Yonkers Families Displaced After Apartment Fire YONKERS, N.Y. -- Two families were left homeless after a fire tore through their apartment building on Wednesday, according to News 12. Firefighters arrived around 8:45 p.m. to flames coming from the back of the building at 358 Nepperhan Ave., said News 12. No one was injured and investigators are working to determine if the fire began inside or outside the apartment building, added News 12. Kent Man Strikes Woman In Head During Dispute, Police Say KENT, N.Y. --  A Kent man was charged with harassment and unlawful imprisonment after getting into a dispute with a woman, according to the Kent Police Department. Jeffrey Oakes, 47, was charged Saturday after he was accused of striking the woman in the head and holding her down, preventing her from leaving the area, Kent Police Officer Brian Forde said. Oakes was arraigned in front of Kent Town Justice J. Peter Collins and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, Nov. 14.

Nyack Motorist Involved In Hit-Run Crash Was Drunk, Police Say ORANGETOWN, N.Y. -- A Nyack man was charged with driving while intoxicated following a hit-and-run accident in Nyack, according to the Orangetown Police Department.Jose Zaruma Galan, 31, was arrested after officers responded to the accident where officials said Galan tried to leave the scene, police said. Officers reported that while speaking with Galan they could tell he was intoxicated and administered several field sobriety tests, which he failed, police said.  He was released on his own recognizance to a friend and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 22.
