SUFFERN, N.Y. -- Suffern native Walt Weiss is out as the Colorado Rockies manager, according to the Denver Post.Weiss, who sports a World Series ring and has years under his belt in the majors as a player himself, officially resigned on Monday, citing issues with the front office as the reason, said the Denver Post.
Also a high school baseball coach, for his son's team, Weiss told the Denver Post there was no discussion with general manager Jeff Bridich and team owner Dick Monfort, before he made his decision, just saying it was time to move on, added the Denver Post.

Elmsford Man Pleads Guilty In Shooting Of Retired Greenburgh Officer
GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- An Elmsford man accused of shooting a retired Greenburgh police officer in 2015 after he confronted him during a burglary of an empty house, has pleaded guilty to the crime, according to the Westchester County Acting District Attorney James A. McCarty.
Taqiy Walton, 35, pleaded guilty to felony assault, attempted assault and criminal possession of a weapon, in the shooting of Peter Schmidt Sr., said McCarty.

Ossining Man Sends Threatening Text To Woman, Police Say
OSSINING, N.Y. -- An Ossining man who threatened a Yorktown woman via text message, found himself charged with aggravated harassment, according to the Yorktown police.
Yorktown police received a call for help from the woman on Baldwin Road who had received a threatening text message from James Abel, 30, causing her to fear for her safety, police said.
Following an investigation, Yorktown officers contacted Abel by phone and he voluntary surrendered at police headquarters on Sunday, Oct. 2, police said.

Bob The Cat Hit By Car, Given Up By Scarsdale Owners Needs New Home
SCARSDALE, N.Y. -- Bob the cat has had a rough day or two. First, he was hit by a car on Weaver Street in Scarsdale, then once the Westchester Humane Society at New Rochelle found his owners, they surrendered him to the Humane Society.
Now Bob, who is stable and expected to recover fully, needs a new home where he will be loved, officials with the Humane Society said.
The society is also looking for help in paying Bob's medical bills, which are close to $1,000.
