Poughkeepsie Forum Focuses On Heroin Epidemic
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Residents, family members and people in recovery from heroin abuse will want to attend the upcoming forum, “Heroin: The scourge, the stories, the answers,” hosted by the Poughkeepsie Journal, on Wednesday, Sept. 14, in Poughkeepsie.Running from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Family Partnership Center, 29 N. Hamilton St., the forum will focus on heroin and prescription drug abuses and feature conversations with health and law enforcement experts as well as surviving family members and people in recovery.

High Risk Sex Offender, Former Carmel Priest, Living In Southeast
SOUTHEAST, N.Y. -- A popular former local priest, who is now considered a level three sex offender, is living in Southeast, according to Putnam Sheriff Donald B. Smith.
Joseph Faraone, 69, made national headlines after he abused a 50-year-old female patient at a local nonprofit human service organization where he worked in August 2015, according to state police.
Faraone, who currently lives at the Bel Aire Motor Lodge on Route 22, was charged with sodomizing someone incapable of consent due to a mental disability or incapacity.
