Lowey Secures $5 Million For Rail Crossing Upgrades, Camera Investigation
New York state has been awarded $5.2 million in federal funds for rail crossing upgrades and closed-circuit TV cameras for investigations.U.S. Rep. Nita M. Gap Fire In Fishkill Could Lead To Top Arson Charges
FISHKILL, N.Y. -- Following the news that the massive fire at the Gap Inc. warehouse center in Fishkill was intentionally set, a criminal defense lawyer said arson charges can be as serious as a murder charge, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal. State police said a preliminary investigation by federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives experts concluded the Aug. 29, eight-alarm fire's source "was incendiary in nature" -- meaning it was intentionally set. Ex-Dutchess Priest Pulled From Churches After Sex Abuse Allegations
DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- A priest who was running two parishes in Dutchess County last month has been accused of molesting a 15-year-old teen at a church in the Bronx more than 30 years ago, according to the Daily News. Unhealthy Coyote Spotted Near Newfield Elementary School
STAMFORD, Conn. -- Students at Newfield Elementary had to spend the day indoors after school officials saw an "unhealthy"' coyote near the school, according to the Stamford Advocate. School officials notified parents that the animal was seen roaming near the school, but it could not be located by animal control officers, said the Stamford Advocate. Police Search For Dutchess Man Accused Of Using Stolen Credit Card
A Hudson Valley man is wanted by New York State Police on charges of using a stolen credit card to make several purchases in the Dutchess County area. Kain S. Peterson, 21, of Wappinger is wanted by state police in Wappinger and Fishkill Justice Court following a fraud complaint reported to police in March. Petersen is accused of using a stolen credit card to make several purchases in the Dutchess County area. Fishkill Justice Court issued a warrant ordering Petersen's arrest in April.
