On Anniversary Of Harrison Town Clerk's Death, Organ Donations Urged
HARRISON, N.Y. -- A person dies every 18 hours waiting for an organ transplant in New York. On Aug. 8, 2011, one of those people was Joseph Acocella who worked as the town clerk for Harrison.
At only 30 years old, Acocella was waiting for a second kidney transplant when he died.
On Monday, the fifth anniversary of his passing, Westchester County Executive Robert P. Astorino joined with the Acocella family, Harrison Mayor/Supervisor Ron Belmont and organ donor advocates to pay their respects, and raise awareness for organ donations, during a ceremony at Harrison Town Hall.

Spring Valley Man Arrested For DWI Had Kids In Car, Police Say
SPRING VALLEY, N.Y. -- A Spring Valley father was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated after being stopped for driving in an erratic manner with his two children in the car on Sunday night, according to the Rockland County Sheriff's Office.
Aharon Lapp, 35, was stopped after deputies observed him driving erratically on McNamara Road, according to Rockland County Sheriff Louis Falco. Once stopped, deputies determined that Lapp was under the influence of drugs and that he had two children, under the age of 16, in the car at the time of the stop, police said.

Stamford Daycare Owner Pleads Not Guilty To Manslaughter In Baby's Death
STAMFORD, Conn. -- The owner of a Stamford daycare center charged with manslaughter in the death a 2-month old New Canaan baby in her care pleaded not guilty Tuesday at Superior Court in Stamford, according to the Stamford Advocate.
Nydia Carrillo-Maldonado, 34, who was arrested Monday and charged with manslaughter and child endangerment in the death of Bella Redondo of New Canaan, made a brief appearance before Judge Auden Grogins, where her bond was kept at $200,000, said the Advocate.
