After Major Leak, Aquarion Asks Darien Customers To Turn Off Sprinklers DARIEN, Conn. -- As a result of a major water leak at a Darien pumping facility Monday and its ongoing emergency repair, Aquarion Water officials are asking its Darien customers to refrain from using irrigation systems and hose-end sprinklers until Thursday. Hand-held watering is still acceptable during this period. In addition, some customers may experience lower water pressure. Motorcyclist Dies In Crash After Driving Between Cars On Route 8 In Shelton SHELTON, Conn. -- A Derby man was killed during a traffic accident on Monday, June 27 when he tried to drive his Kawasaki motorcycle between two vehicles on Route 8 northbound in Shelton, according to state police.Shawn Reynolds, 53, was killed when he hit the back end of a car in the right lane after attempting to squeeze between the car and another vehicle in the center lane, according to the Connecticut State Police. Indian Point Unit 2 Returns To Service BUCHANAN, N.Y. – Indian Point officials announced that Unit 2 at the nuclear power plant was returned to service on Monday, following a shutdown on Friday to complete weld repairs to a pipe and to allow workers from Con Edison to test a breaker in a switchyard near Indian Point.The shutdown came about when plant engineers identified a small leak of Hudson River water from a pipe in a nonradioactive system, leaking at about one drop every five seconds.
