Northern Valley School District Sees Fewer Substance Abuse Cases DEMAREST, N.J. -- A more intensive anti-drug message has paid off for Northern Valley Regional School District leaders as the number of reported substance-abuse cases continues to decline, according to NorthJersey.com.The number of substance-abuse cases dropped from 20 in the 2014-15 school year to 16 this year. The numbers are based on the use and possession of drugs on school property, or at school functions, said NorthJersey.com. Stamford Soft Serve Truck Burns, Melting All The Ice Cream STAMFORD, Conn. -- Forget drippy ice cream cones, it was more like ice cream on fire as a soft serve ice cream truck caught fire on Sunday, June 26 on Washington Boulevard in Stamford, according to the Connecticut Post. The truck, which was near Mill River Park when smoke began coming from under the dashboard, was a complete loss and all of the ice cream melted, said the Connecticut Post. According to Av Harris, communications director for Bridgeport, Colon was traveling east on Pearl Street on a 2012 Kwang Yang motor scooter when he ran the stop sign and struck a 2015 Kia Optima driven by Donald Brown, 58, of Bridgeport.  Colon, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected from the scooter into the roadway.
